Yesterday I had the chance to receive Dj Bongo Man from the Belgium band: BUFFLE. The young Bongo Man has dropped his full record collection in a rainbow magic fluid, a liquid with large bubbles and Static purple smoke, this accident has transformed the sound of his vinyl collection forever, out of tune, dusty, sweet, weird and sentimental. he did the mix in two part, I will post the second part in a couple of weeks.

Here is a mix of Belgium’s 1988 dirty sound, called “New Beat“, this kind of slow new wave electro started in 1987 when some Belgian dj’s started pitching down new wave tracks like “Flesh” by A Split Second. This became a kind of Benelux avant garde version of the Southern US purple hip hop style, called chopped and Screwed. Most of the tracks in this mix are from 1988, the golden years of the New Beat.

Tommorow this is “la fête de la musique” in Charleroi. News ! the Fan Club Orchestra will play there at the Vecteur. the bass player have an toothache and the guitar player has decided to don’t play metal guitar anymore. Crazy Nasa!
Last month Sun OK Papi K.O. was invited to spin some records at the best radioshow in Brussels called… This is the only real pirate radio in Brussels that I know of, illegal broadcasting and therefore hardly any info about the line up or broadcasting hours. The show, hosted by the mysterious F. (Wémé?) and G. (Firstcask?) takes place in an attick of a weird and nearly empty house near mannekenpis. This recording was done by the migthy DJ Athome, who must have been in the centre of the city since the radio range doesn’t go any further.
